What have we concluded so far?

We believe that there is relationship between Informal Learning Contexts and Formal Learning Contexts.

LGCs are learning environments connecting the formal learning agenda of educational institutions with the personal learning goals of students. They are spaces established through negotiation with teachers & institutions in order to achieve effective learning. Effective learning is shaped by the environmental influences of success and satisfaction.

Success is measured in terms of:

• knowledge and understanding,
• attainment of educational award,
• personal growth and development
• career opportunities;

Satisfaction is measured in terms of:

• the conviviality of the learning spaces,
• friendships,
• personal relationships,
• social networks; and
• minimizing student debt.

Success and satisfaction are 2 sides of the same coin and should be acknowledged as interwoven influences
